WHAT GUIDES US

Take Your Next Step

Our Mission

Our beliefs are rooted in Jesus’ command:

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37–39 (ESV)

Love God

Jesus teaches that two commandments stand above all others: to love God and to love people. We believe God is the Creator of all things and exists eternally as three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Because of who He is, we believe we were created to worship Him and bring Him glory. God is fully deserving of our affection, attention, and devotion, and our relationship with Him should be the most important relationship in our lives.

Love People

The second part of the Greatest Commandment calls us to love others. Because of this, we are committed to loving our neighbors both locally and globally. We strive to live on mission in the places where we work, live, and play, intentionally looking for opportunities to be a blessing. Jesus said His followers would be known by their love for one another (John 13:35). In a world filled with brokenness, we believe the love of God is the greatest hope—so that the world may come to know Him.

Be the Church

We believe Jesus established His Church as His body on earth. The Church exists to declare the gospel and display the glory of Jesus to the world. We believe the Church is a family, and that every believer is called to be connected to a local body for mutual encouragement, spiritual growth, and accountability.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see the church at Oak Hill glorifying God in worship, reaching the unsaved with the gospel, growing as disciples of Christ, ministering to one another, and serving together as members of the Body of Christ—bound together in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

We desire to be the people of God who gather together so that we can scatter together. We hold one another accountable to live as blessings—showing kindness, serving others, and paying it forward in everyday life. Our prayer is that people would see the love of God on display through us and experience the gospel of Jesus lived out in real and tangible ways.

We strive to live this out not only individually, but also corporately. As Oak Hill, we seek to reach our neighborhoods by hosting community events and partnering with local schools and community organizations, sharing the love of Christ beyond our walls.

What We Believe

What We Believe About the Bible

We believe the Bible is the absolute truth and God’s final authority. Both the Old and New Testaments are the inerrant, verbally inspired, and infallible Word of God. Scripture is the foundation for everything we believe and practice.

What We Practice Through the Authority of the Bible

We accept the Bible as our guide for living. When faced with decisions, our first question is, “What does the Bible say?”We are committed to reading, studying, and memorizing Scripture, believing it shapes our faith and daily lives.

What We Believe About God and the Trinity

We believe there is one true and living God who exists eternally as three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—one God in three Persons.

  • God the Father orders all things according to His purpose and for His glory.

  • God the Son, Jesus Christ, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and came to redeem humanity from sin.

  • God the Holy Spirit convicts of sin and righteousness and lives within believers as our guide, teacher, and source of strength.

All who receive Christ as Savior are born of the Holy Spirit.

What We Believe About Salvation Through Jesus Christ

We believe salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone through His atoning sacrifice on the cross. Humanity was created in the image of God, but through sin became separated from Him—both physically and spiritually. Every person is born with a sinful nature, but all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved and will spend eternity with God.

What We Practice Through the Ordinance of Baptism

We practice baptism by immersion, following the example of Jesus and the teaching of Scripture. Baptism is an act of obedience and a public declaration of faith, and it is a prerequisite for church membership and participation in the Lord’s Supper.

What We Practice Through the Priesthood of the Believer

We believe every believer is a minister. Each follower of Christ has direct access to God through prayer and Scripture and is encouraged to serve using their God-given gifts.

What We Practice Through a Spirit-Led Life

We believe the Christian life can only be lived through the power of the Holy Spirit. We seek to depend daily on the Spirit’s leading, enabling us to follow God’s Word faithfully.

What We Practice Through the Ordinance of the Lord’s Supper

We observe the Lord’s Supper as a symbolic act of obedience. Through it, baptized believers remember the death of Christ and anticipate His return.

What We Believe About the Church and the Believer

We believe the church is a New Testament community of baptized believers. We gather for worship, small groups, and service, united in faith while diverse in gifts. Every believer is called to live a holy life of service and to belong to a Bible-believing local church for fellowship and the advancement of the gospel locally and globally.

What We Practice Through the Autonomy of the Local Church

We believe Christ alone is the head of the church—not any person, group, or religious organization. Each local church governs itself while partnering with like-minded churches for greater gospel impact.

What We Practice Through Giving

We practice tithing as an act of worship. We believe giving 10% of our income is the starting point, and giving beyond that is a joyful privilege.

What We Practice Through the Gospel

We believe every Christian is called to share the gospel. We seek to live out the love of Christ and clearly communicate the Good News to those God places in our lives—both through personal relationships and by inviting others into our church community.

Our Network

Our Network

While we are an autonomous congregation, we recognize the strength and impact that comes from partnering with other gospel-centered churches and organizations. For that reason, we are part of a nationwide network of more than 40,000 churches known as the Southern Baptist Convention.

Through this partnership, we are able to do far more together than we could on our own. Our network supports over 4,000 missionaries who are sharing the love and message of Jesus around the world, helps plant new churches in cities across the United States, operates one of the largest disaster relief organizations in North America, and trains future church leaders through seminaries serving churches globally.

We are grateful for the opportunity to partner in this network and excited about how God uses it to expand the impact of Oak Hill Church for His kingdom.
