MISSIONS EXPLAINED

Helping people here, near and far know and follow Jesus.

MISSIONS VISION

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Revelation 7:9–10

MISSIONS CONVICTIONS THAT DRIVE STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT

1.   God’s Glory Motivates Our Mission.
We are driven by a desire for God to be known and worshiped among all peoples. (Psalm 67)

2.   Prayer is Essential in All We Do.
We depend on God through prayer, seeking His direction, power, and provision in every aspect of our mission. (Matthew 9:38)

3.   The Great Commission is Given to Every Believer and the Whole Church.
Jesus entrusted the mission of making disciples of all nations to the entire church, calling every Christian to live as a witness—intentionally sharing the gospel so that people here, near, and far might know and follow Him. (Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8)

4.   We Prioritize the Unreached.
While everyone needs the gospel, we focus on those with little or no access, striving to see churches planted among unreached people groups. (Romans 10:11–15)

5.   We Partner in Strategic Cities and Among Unreached Peoples.
We focus our efforts on planting churches and engaging unreached people groups in key cities around the world. (Romans 15:20–21)

6.   We Believe the Local Church is Central to the Missionary Task.
We are committed to the missionary task—entry, evangelism, discipleship, church planting, leadership development, and exiting to partnership—because the local church is God’s primary means for making disciples and displaying His glory among the nations. Therefore, we focus on establishing new churches and strengthening existing ones as we join God’s mission. (Acts 14:21–23; Ephesians 3:10–11; Matthew 28:18–20)

7.   We Value Collaboration.
We join efforts with like-minded partners, believing that gospel collaboration strengthens our mission. (Philippians 1:3–5; Ecclesiastes 4:12)

8.   We Equip and Care for Those We Send.
We are committed to preparing, supporting, and caring for those we send out to serve. (Philemon 7)

9.   We Celebrate God’s Work Among the Nations.
We rejoice in all that God is doing in and through us as we follow Him to make disciples of all nations. (Revelation 7:9–12)

ENGAGEMENT FILTER

The Engagement Filter guides the decision-making process as Oak Hill, giving focus to the questions: who, what, when, and where.

  • Gospel Access

  • Strategic Cities/population centers

  • Unengaged unreached people groups

  • Involvement in the missionary task

  • Accessible for Oak Hill members

  • If your vision for reaching the world stops at your county line, your vision is way to small!

  • Gospel NEED is the same for every person in the world. Gospel ACCESS is not. We must do something about that.

  • We are committed to the missionary task—entry, evangelism, discipleship, church planting, leadership development, and exiting to partnership."
